This is a new blog about Action Design, a process for developing products that help people change their own behavior in beneficial ways. I’ve been chewing on the idea for the last few years at HelloWallet, where we build products that help people get control over their finances.
So, there are two places to learn more about Action Design:
First, Justin Thorp, Michael Yoch and I are helping start “Action Design DC”, a community for practitioners to swap notes on behavior-changing products. It’s meant for anyone who’s in the space or interested in learning more about these types of products. More information can be found on the Meetup Page.
Second, I’m starting this website and blog. Here, I’m focusing our experiences at HelloWallet over the last few years, and formalizing a concrete step-by-step method for building behavior-changing products. I’m just starting to formalize that method. On this blog, I’ll share the ideas as they come in – and hopefully start a discussion about how to build behavior-changing applications!
That’s it for now. I look forward to talking with you all.
